Riso Gallo's market leadership is the result of ongoing investments and a corporate approach that has led the company to be ahead of times. Technology, research, quality and experience have always been the key strengths of the business.

The company's R&D dept. is organised into two divisions: one carries out experiments on the seed for the development of new rice varieties, while the other concentrates on developing the products.

In the seed research division, Riso Gallo has created a company, Quadrifoglio SpA, operating in the field of seed selection. The new company has specialised in studying and researching new varieties of rice. Its objective is to improve the existing varieties, and to market the seeds.

Research activity is also being developed through experimental field cropping and in the Robbio Lomellina pilot centre. This is where researchers investigate the production of new paddy rice varieties and where Riso Gallo promotes and develops relations with rice producers, enhancing and fostering a spirit of co-operation and partnership with the farming community.

In 1993, we embarked on research with the Agriculture Faculty of the Catholic University of Piacenza, using innovative methods to select new and improved rice varieties, responding to current and future consumer trends.
For many years, we have been working together with famous Italian chefs to test and improve rice varieties.
With regard to research and development, the company boasts a three-floor cutting-edge research centre, covering a surface area of over 1000 square metres . The centre houses:

a commodity laboratory
a kitchen with 6 tasting booths for the tasting panel
a kitchen reserved for the preparation and study of new products
